โ€œRing Yourself Awakeโ€ (๐˜•๐˜Œ๐˜–๐˜• ๐˜—๐˜–๐˜Œ๐˜›๐˜™๐˜ ) is an ongoing light-based visual artwork platform for text based & lyrical media, premiering and PRISM and curated by ALICE LOVELACE. Our first iteration features words by THERESA DAVIS from her poem Inheritance.

โ€œFor Neon Poetry, my interest is in the street poet, slam poet, folk singer, and the poetry purist; placing them in the same space to create a mixture of word sound power speaking from the serious issues (social, political, environmental, or historic) to the whimsical. Performers are representative of Atlanta, and are selected for their diverse approach to text based work in tone and content. The opening to PRISM this year will be a poetry-based multi-artist performance event with loudspeakers that ripple through the streets of downtown.โ€ - ALICE LOVELACE

Abracadabruh by FABIAN WILLIAMS

As a black man living in these times, sometimes it feels like the things we dream of are made to be beyond our reach. Speaking what you want into fruition is the most important thing that can happen in your mind before you achieve them in reality. Choosing your creative path and knowing it will happen is the best decision you can make. This piece is a visual reminder that you have the power to make that decision. Speaking what you want into fruition. This is a visual reminder of what I told myself years ago.

A Subtle Alchemy by DAN LAM

โ€œLamโ€™s largest sculpture to date,  A Subtle Alchemy takes the Squish form to architectural proportions: standing eight feet tall, the mound rises up on slender legs, allowing viewers to pass underneath its dome.  The artist worked with sturdier materials to work on this scale, commissioning a steel armature sculpting with styrofoam, epoxyโ€ฏclay, and resin, and coating the form with chameleon autobody paint that shifts colors as one moves around it.  The shimmering surface gives the work a sense that it is alive and changing, or reacting to others in its presence.โ€ - Nasher Sculpture Center

Rainbow Gateway 'Saekdong' by IN KYOUNG CHUN

[The piece] is based on my painting 'Blueโ€™ ( mixed media on canvas, 30" x24", 2010)', which expresses water, a fundamental source of life. Water cleanses and refreshes our world. In particular, the rainbow stripes in the work symbolizes the traditional Korean pattern, Saekdong, which characterizes the goodness of water: Saekdong means joy, heavenly blessing and harmony. We have been through many hardships this year and I hope people get an optimistic and positive energy when they enter the Rainbow Gateway at the close of 2021.
