Talecia Tuker: focus
"Focus" is a series created during the 2020 lockdown that reimagines stillness in the face of violent, oppressive systems that seek to destroy and diminish Black life. By strengthening familial ties, both biological and chosen, and connecting with nature through my camera lens, I found solace.
Tricia Hersey & Charlie Watts: The Nap Ministry
As part of the Friends & Weather art exhibition, these photographs are of a durational series centering The Nap Ministry’s connection to land-based healing and rest as a portal for reparations. The Nap Ministry uplifts the power of Black bodies at rest while engaging with the liminal space nature provides. In 2020, this movement grew immensely, indicating the mission’s resonance with people throughout the country. To learn more, follow @thenapministry on all social media platforms.
